It's not a remodel, we're just replacing what's there.

Sometimes it seems the farmwife's compromise is never complete.  I think there are wives and stay at home mom's out there, and I may be one of them, caught in a dream to remodel a bathroom or to purchase new kitchen cupboards or new flooring.  Ahh..."It's not a remodel, were just replacing what's there." my husband adds.  It's the mindset to only replace what is broken.  That's okay if you never want to update but its seems to me we must all update.  At no time in our history is time and technology moving faster.  It's like people who choose not to read the news, listen to the radio or watch tv, or join facebook. I wonder, where are they in the social world? Well, good thing the bathroom floor is broken, the tub tiles are nearly falling off and the shelving in the base of the vanity cupboard is crumbling apart.  I think? I've definitely gotten to the point of, let's replace with what works.  And, it will look great!

What you want to know, really?

I love facebook. It's a profoundly great way to keep in contact with people from college and high school, the old neighborhood and friends who have moved away to other countries and other corners of the US. I can even keep in touch with people inadvertantly.  Even though I can't think of the word for that I will just invoke a word my husband uses and lives by, efficiency.  However, there are bits of strangeness I experience in Facebook too. For example, I posted a little status message about my daughter having the flu to which a thought might quietly sweep a reader's head like, "Yeah, we had it too.  Or, gross, don't tell me about it.  Or jeepers it happens to everyone move on with it."  But then, one friend adds, "Too bad. What kind of flu?"  To which begs the question, scientifically and medically, which are two areas I'm not inclined enough to navigate, there are different strains of flu...but I think it connotes vomit and tummy ache for sure, least said friend should want to know more??  Should anyone else want to know more?? Should you want to know more.  Should I want to tell you or my friend more? Did I say too much. It's those little things that make facebook weird and funny.  But, it is great. Fabulous and fun.  I didn't answer.  I'm sure the question isn't dangling in her mind anymore either.  It's all good.

Pancakes and bacon.

Today is a pancakes and bacon day.  That seems relatively simple but its important for a stay a home mom to fry up the bacon and make those pancakes for my family.  I guess, its important to me to because often times I stress over 'what am I doing' and making pancakes and bacon instead of cereal for my family is one way to say, 'okay I'm doing something.'  But cleaning house and changing diapers and cooking meals is something. Being with the kids is the biggest reward.  I think my husband hates me because I am not working and he is. But this what we wanted. Sometimes things get out of alignment that way.  I guess I just need to make pancakes and bacon and fill our tummies with something good.  Mind you, keeping breakfast warm for my husband, since I don't know when he'll be done with chores, not a good idea according to him.  Like it our not, pancakes can be warmed up.  I don't know when he'll be in so I just fry up the bacon and man the griddle, in a girly sort of why.  :)

If the Pack can do it, so can I!

Good morning world. I'm so glad the Packers pulled off a win against the Bears to capture the NFC title! I did tell myself though that if the Packers can make it to the Superbowl then I can loose weight. In fact, lots of weight by Christmas.  So, I'm trying and have had great results in the last couple of days. Maybe its the writing that gives me a boost too.  I just try to eat less and drink lots of ice water to curb my appetite, oh, and working on the exercise but find it hard to do when the kids are crawling all over me, especially if I'm trying something new. So, thank you Mr. Rogers and your champion team!  If this works, I'm definately writing the team a letter thanking them for their inspiration. "If the Pack can do it then so can I!" I also have my little cheerleader, Justin, who just caught on to a new word:  "Go, Go, Go!" and chanted like his big brother. He's definately and inspiration too!

Smile...its the most you can do in a second.

You have to forgive me for I give myself five minutes every morning to do this.  Today is Saturday so I've given myself the leeway to take the best of the best and include material or thought that is not all my own.  Here are a few thoughts and tidbits of wisdom I've come across in facebook this week.  A smile is not to be thought of as a given. A smile, like happiness, is something you have to work at (at least sometimes) but it is also a gift you can give to someone else that costs you nothing.  I try to smile at everyone. (A friend on facebook posted a new smiling picture of herself this week that still has me grinning days later!)  I'm reminded of the old movie with Sandra Bullock, While You Were Sleeping, where her heartthrob is in a coma and his family thinks she's his real girlfriend and the family asks her what attracted her to him, the luxury car, the success, etc. and she says, "His smile. It changed everything for me."

The other thought is from a "friend" named Megan who recently lost her father to cancer and can't seem to keep her whole family healthy,  "if we have health we truly have everything we need."  Absolutely true.  Now, I need to clean, smile, and wake up.  My extra goals today are to exercise and to read. :) One last thoughts, as the title is worth repeating:  "Smile, it truly is the most you can with one second."

Weather delay...or not.

I should say it's tremendously frosty in Wisconsin this morning.  But, the sun is out and that's most welcoming considering its the coldest day of the year so far.  My husband, he's out in the barn working, feeding cows, tending to their health and doing what some may call "a man's job" though many, many women do it to.  However,  funny when I think of how freaky he gets about changing diapers on our little stinkasaurus! The kids, they had a two hour late start because it was nearly -35 degree outside this morning. I give my husband credit because no matter the weather his work schedule doesn't get any shorter.  He doesn't get to wait until the sun comes out to warm things up.  Yet, his complaints are very, very few and far in between.  That's my man!
